Company’s History

DJL was founded in 1949 by the Desourdy family, the people who pioneered modern road construction in the province of Quebec, and dominated the industry.

DJL began with a paving plant located in Cowansville to meet the needs of the surrounding region. Soon after came plants in Sherbrooke, Carignan, Ste-Lucie and other regions.

In the 1980s, the company embarked on a prolonged acquisition program, adding a new facility nearly every year and greatly strengthening its market position throughout Quebec.

The 1990s brought significant change to DJL. While continuing to expand through more acquisitions, the company also merged with Entreprise Jean Lefebvre, one of France’s largest road-building companies. The merger gave DJL access to new products, technologies and higher levels of competencies. It was the start of a new direction that continues to this day.

In 2000, DJL joined the Eurovia Group, which is part of Vinci, a world leader in construction.

This persistent focus on world-caliber standards of performance has made DJL an undisputed leader in Quebec’s infrastructure building industry.
